Snowshoe hiking on Alpe di Rodengo and Alpe di Luson
Do you feel like "taking your foot off the gas" during your winter holiday? Then you’ve found the perfect place. Far away from the hullabaloo of ski centres, the area around our hotel offers nature to breathe in deeply and breathe out. And the stress of everyday life? It simply disappears on Alpe di Luson/Lüsner Alm and Alpe di Rodengo/Rodenecker Alm in winter during a tour through the deep snow or a lively toboggan run. For those who long to be "off on the slopes", Plose ski area is only 30 minutes away by car, Gitschberg Jochtal ski area in 45 minutes, and Plan de Corones/Kronplatz or Val Gardena/Gröden in one hour.
Ambitious hikers can embark on more demanding summit tours in Puez-Odle Nature Park, and leisure hikers can choose unhurried but panoramic tours on Alpe di Luson/Lüsner Alm and Alpe di Rodengo/Rodenecker Alm in winter. Herol could not be a better starting point. Most of the tours start right outside our front door. For all the newcomers among you, snowshoe hiking is possible for anyone who can hike. You don't need any particular technique. Give it a try, you'll love it, I promise!
Our tip: The tour to our local mountain, Cima Lasta/Astjoch, is particularly beautiful. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Val Pusteria/Pustertal, the Zillertal Alps, the Stubai Glacier and, of course, the Dolomites with Sass de Putia/Peitlerkofel and Odles d'Eores/Afer Geisler.
On Alpe di Luson/Lüsner and Alpe di Rodengo/Rodenecker Alm in winter, numerous paths for winter hiking are prepared and easy to reach from Herol. Along the hiking trails, various huts invite you to stop and warm up with hot drinks and hearty South Tyrolean specialties. Winter hiking on Alpe di Rodengo/Rodenecker Alm and Alpe di Luson/Lüsner Alm is a fantastic experience – it’s healthy and inexpensive, too! Enjoy!
In Lüsen, 30 kilometres of pristine cross-country trails beckon you to complete seclusion in a snow-guaranteed location. Cross-country skiing and skating are incredibly exhausting but extremely relaxing. In addition, the beautiful panorama speeds up your pulse, making your heart race. But it's worth it! Afterwards, you’ll have earned a Kaiserschmarrn at the hut with a clear conscience.
On some tours that are suitable for a winter hike, you can speed down on a toboggan on the way back. Tobogganing is no just something for children. Often you can't stop laughing and screaming. Try it out for yourself and combine a brilliant toboggan ride with a cosy stop for refreshments!
For those who find the laid-back winter pleasures a little too gentle, Plose skiing area is just a 30-minute drive away. Here, 43 kilometres of slopes, the longest valley run in South Tyrol, and a fun park await all ski and snowboard enthusiasts. On your boards, get ready, get set, go!
